“Faith and Play” is a mommy/caretaker-and-me program held at St. Matthews Parish in Windham, NH. The program runs during the school year.
Once a week, from 9:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., kids 0 to 6 years old meet with their moms/dads/caregivers in the parish hall. The sessions include Bible puppet stories, crafts, snack time, and open play. It is a wonderful opportunity for children to begin learning about their faith in a fun environment, while playing with kids their own age. It also gives moms/dads/caregivers an opportunity to participate, while socializing with other parents in the group.
Sessions typically run eight to ten weeks, at a rate of $20 a family. Participants can choose from sessions offered on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. To register, or for more information, contact Claire at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Testimonial from Katie Murphy (attended with three kids)
“I took my kids to Faith and Play group with Miss Claire since she started the program. My kids LOVED going! Claire is great with the little kids. She knows just how to get and keep their attention with a Bible puppet story, and then they have active time to create and play. My youngest attended his first session when he was less than 2 weeks old and continued straight through kindergarten. We always looked forward to Faith and Play group!”
Testimonial from Naomi Thompson (attended with two kids, ages 5 and 2)
“Faith and play is a great way to introduce your little ones to the Bible stories. My two sons loved it. They called it ‘play church.’ They loved the play time, the crafts, and their new friends. I loved the interaction with other moms/grandparents. Very low pressure and very welcoming. Claire does a fantastic job with the stories. I highly recommend it. I only wish I had found it sooner!!”
Testimonial from Jessica W. (attended with two kids, ages 7 and 3)
“My children and I looked forward to Faith and Play each and every week. The children loved the craft and play time and I loved being able to socialize with other moms. Claire’s fun and interactive way of teaching the Bible stories through puppets helped my children to learn these important stories and lessons. I cannot say enough about how wonderful Faith and Play was for my family. We ‘graduated’ two years ago and my children still talk about their time at Faith and Play!!”
Testimonial from Kerry Duprez (attended with one child, age 5)
“My daughter, Mahre, and I attended Faith and Play for 2 years. I loved the open and welcoming environment. The balance between lesson and play was perfect with the Bible-puppet story followed by craft, snack and play, then back to the rug to reinforce the lesson learned at the puppet show at the beginning of the session. What a fun way to teach the Bible to children!”
Testimonial from Pam Sarantis (attended with one child, age 4)
“My son and I really enjoyed attending Faith and Play! It was a wonderful way to introduce him to the Bible through the puppet shows. Claire really knows how to relate to children. There is just enough structure to the program with circle time, craft and snack but also ample time for the kids to play and the moms to socialize. It was a great place for me to connect with other like-minded moms of children the same age. We are lucky to have this program in our community.”
Testimonial from TJ O’Loughlin (attended with two children)
“My sons and I attended Faith and Play from the time they were infants to when they were 3 years old. They really enjoyed the puppet shows; they opened up a great dialog with them about Jesus and God. We loved doing the crafts and meeting all the other kids there. I enjoyed relaxing and getting to know the other moms. We are lucky to have this great program in our community.”
Testimonial from Megan Clark (attended with two children)
“My daughter and I began Faith and Play Group when my now eight year old was three. We walked in, enjoyed the welcoming song, the fantastic puppet show depicting a Bible story, and the companion craft. We loved it. In fact, we loved it so much we came back the next week, and the next, and the next … for the last five years! My children have learned so many wonderful lessons in Faith and Play. Because they were able to learn some of the Bible stories in an age appropriate level, we started noticing how they were paying closer attention during each week’s mass. When I would ask them about their “great listening,” my son explained that he recognized the story from Faith and Play so he understood, and wanted to sit quietly and listen.
Beyond the fun for the children and the fewer wiggles during mass, I should mention how wonderful Faith and Play is for the moms/dads/caregivers of young children. We would come in with children from a variety of ages, pushing strollers and carrying coffees. I can’t tell you how nice it is to come together with like-minded adults who understand the ups and downs of any given day with toddlers. It was such a great place for me, as a mom, to feel supported and encouraged through the trickier parts of raising young kids. I cannot say enough about how much my family and I have enjoyed Faith and Play Group. Thank you Miss Claire and Mrs. D. For all you have taught us!”
